Argentina’s President Milei Pushes for AI Investments in California: President Javier Milei of Argentina embarked on a three-day visit to Silicon Valley, California, aiming to position Argentina as a regional hub for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Leveraging the country’s favorable climatic conditions and the potential regulatory changes in the pipeline, Milei met with key industry players including Sam Altman of OpenAI to discuss investment opportunities and collaborations in the AI sector.

Milei’s strategic objective is to capitalize on Argentina’s reform package presented in Parliament, which promises extensive deregulation once approved. By fostering a conducive environment for tech innovation and investment, Argentina seeks to attract global AI players and emerge as a prominent player in the AI landscape.

During his visit, Milei engaged with prominent tech figures such as Sandor Pichai of Google, Timothy Cook of Apple, and Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, emphasizing Argentina’s commitment to fostering technological advancement and global collaboration in AI development.

Damian Reidel, the president’s economic advisor, highlighted the significance of these meetings in advancing Argentina’s vision for AI development. President Milei’s stay in California includes a series of strategic meetings and discussions aimed at enhancing Argentina’s foothold in the AI space. Following his engagements in Silicon Valley, Milei is scheduled to travel to San Salvador for the inauguration ceremony of President Nayib Bukele before returning to Argentina.
