UN Provides Vital Aid to Over 1.15 Million Venezuelans in 4 Months Through Collaborative Efforts. As per the document published by Ocha, the humanitarian response in Venezuela has mobilized $71.9 million up to May 31, 2024, marking a significant milestone by covering 8.1% of the Humanitarian Response Plan. Despite this commendable progress, the UN has highlighted the urgent need for $617 million in funding to achieve its overarching objective of assisting 5.1 million Venezuelans throughout the year.
The aid distribution has prioritized reaching a diverse range of beneficiaries, including 176 members of indigenous communities, 28,000 individuals with disabilities, and over a thousand individuals from the LGBTI community. This intentional focus on inclusivity underscores the UN’s commitment to serving the most marginalized and vulnerable groups within the Venezuelan population.
Noteworthy is the demographic breakdown of aid recipients, with 58% being women, reflecting the targeted approach to addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by women in crisis settings. The UN’s comprehensive distribution network spans across 24 states and encompasses 278 municipalities out of Venezuela’s total of 335, ensuring that aid reaches communities in need across the country.
